SoftwareSilo, Aheadworks, and Amasty all limit catalog access, but their data models are different. SoftwareSilo starts with products assigned to customers or groups. Aheadworks creates public and private catalogs with product and price controls. Amasty starts with rules for Magento customer groups.

SoftwareSilo: precise customer assortments
SoftwareSilo suits stores where the question is, "Which SKUs may this account use?" Administrators can build reusable catalogs, assign them to customers or groups, and add individual products to one customer. Store-view relations and a dedicated My Products page make the assignment visible to both administrators and buyers.
Strict whitelist mode filters products from supported storefront paths. It does not control prices, category navigation entries, or CMS content. That narrower scope is useful when another system already owns those decisions.
Aheadworks: broader private catalog packages
Aheadworks presents a private catalog as a catalog and customer-group model. Its official page includes bulk price adjustments, hidden products, categories, CMS pages, prices, and Add to Cart controls. It also lists integrations with its Company Accounts and other B2B extensions.
This breadth can reduce the need for several modules. It also means the project must test more interactions, particularly when private pricing, catalog permissions, quotes, quick order, and company accounts are installed together.
Amasty: rules around customer groups
Amasty Customer Group Catalog is useful when access can be expressed as rules for Magento groups. The documentation covers restricted products and categories, price replacement, quote prompts, button removal, redirects, and optional CMS-page restrictions.
Rules are convenient for broad segments. They are less natural when hundreds of individual customers require small SKU exceptions unless the project also manages many groups or custom conditions.
A practical choice
Choose SoftwareSilo when account-level product sets, direct exceptions, store views, and Sublogin combinations matter most. Choose Aheadworks when private catalogs should also own pricing and content restrictions. Choose Amasty when customer-group rules and controlled purchase actions match the requirement.
