SoftwareSilo Customer Documents and Swissup Order Attachments should not be treated as interchangeable products. SoftwareSilo primarily moves a merchant-managed file toward a customer. Swissup primarily moves a buyer-supplied file into an order. That direction decides more than a long feature checklist.
Workflow comparison
| Question | SoftwareSilo | Swissup |
|---|---|---|
| Who supplies the file? | Usually the merchant or an integrated back-office system | Customer, guest, or administrator |
| Main location | My Documents, product page, linked sales-document views | Checkout, guest/customer order view, admin order view |
| Access rules | Customer, group, public/private, password, validity, download count | Customer-group upload restriction, private generated links, configurable edit/upload permissions |
| Email role | Notify customers and optionally attach files within a size limit | Add attachment links to templates and notify about attachment changes |
| Typical files | Contracts, certificates, manuals, delivery records, account documents | Artwork, prescriptions, specifications, purchase instructions |
When SoftwareSilo is the better fit
Use SoftwareSilo when your business controls the document. The administrator can decide which account or group receives it, how it is organized, when it expires, and whether a password or maximum download count applies. The file can also belong to a product or appear beside an order, invoice, shipment, or credit memo.
This makes it useful after a transaction as well as outside an order. A service contract, annual certificate, or dealer handbook does not need an order ID to make sense.
When Swissup is the better fit
Swissup is designed to collect order-specific material. Its documentation covers uploads during the default Magento checkout and Firecheckout, uploads from guest and customer order views, limits on file count and size, permitted extensions, administrative editing, and private generated links. Multishipping checkout is listed as unsupported.
That workflow suits personalized goods and regulated purchasing where the customer must supply information before or after placing an order.
Can both run in one store?
Yes, because the responsibilities can remain distinct. Swissup can collect the customer's source file, while SoftwareSilo can later deliver the approved proof, certificate, or finished document. Define labels carefully so buyers understand which area is for uploading and which is for receiving.
