A useful E-Invoice solution does more than produce an XML file. It must obtain clean invoice data from Magento, create the format your recipient accepts, expose validation errors, deliver the document through the agreed channel, and make corrections manageable.
Short answer: SoftwareSilo is a strong fit for merchants that want several European invoice formats, credit memo workflows, validation, email attachments, customer downloads, queues, REST endpoints, and PEPPOL BIS file generation inside Magento. GEISSWEB is the closest direct Magento competitor and deserves a serious comparison. KonVis is a narrower, lower-cost option for ZUGFeRD-focused projects. xHub is a hosted API service, not a ready-to-install Magento extension.

SoftwareSilo E-Invoice
SoftwareSilo keeps generation and day-to-day operations in Magento. For invoices it supports ZUGFeRD, Factur-X, XRechnung, EN 16931 XML, and PEPPOL BIS Billing. It can create documents immediately, through a queue, on a schedule, or manually. Administrators see generation and validation status, customers can download documents, and transactional emails can include XML, PDF, or both.
Credit memos are supported for ZUGFeRD, XRechnung, and PEPPOL BIS Billing. That format boundary matters. A product should not claim universal credit-note support if its current implementation does not provide it.
SoftwareSilo is especially relevant when Magento remains the source of invoice data and the team wants REST and command-line operations as well as the admin interface. It generates PEPPOL BIS files but does not send them through a Peppol Access Point.
GEISSWEB Electronic Invoicing
GEISSWEB is the most comparable product in this shortlist. Its public page describes Magento invoice and credit memo handling, ZUGFeRD, Factur-X, XRechnung, EN 16931 XML, customer and admin downloads, email attachments, identifiers, payment terms, VAT categories, CLI tools, and validation. It also documents compatibility with specific third-party PDF modules and offers integration help for other PDF solutions.
That makes GEISSWEB a credible choice when an existing Magento PDF customization is central to the project. Ask which exact standard versions and credit-note profiles the current release supports, and test the merchant's tax, discount, shipping, and refund cases.
KonVis ZUGFeRD extension
KonVis positions its product around generating the XML portion of ZUGFeRD invoices in Magento. Its product page describes email delivery and downloads in the customer account and admin area. It also lists compatibility options for Vianetz PDF and Hyvä.
The narrower scope may be an advantage when the requirement is precisely known and limited. It is not a like-for-like replacement for a multi-format platform if recipients also require XRechnung, PEPPOL BIS, automated validation workflows, or API-based bulk processing. Check what creates the final hybrid PDF in the intended setup.
xHub Invoice API
xHub is an architecture alternative rather than a Magento extension. Its API accepts invoice data and returns, validates, or parses E-Invoice formats through a hosted service. That can be attractive when one integration must cover several countries or applications.
It also means a team must build the Magento mapping, authentication, error handling, retries, storage, monitoring, and upgrade path. Invoice data is processed by an external service, which brings contractual and data-protection questions. xHub's public documentation marked its Peppol Gateway as coming soon when this article was reviewed, so it should not be treated as a currently documented Peppol delivery feature without fresh confirmation.

- Which exact format and version does each recipient accept?
- Are invoices, corrections, and credit memos all required?
- Does the solution create a file only, or also deliver it through the required network?
- Where are invoice data and credentials processed and stored?
- Can finance staff understand and retry a failed document without a developer?
- How are discounts, shipping, mixed tax rates, exemptions, and vouchers tested?
- Who updates schemas and business rules when standards change?
Recommendation
Choose based on the complete operating workflow, not the longest format list. SoftwareSilo is a strong candidate for a broad, Magento-native E-Invoice workflow. GEISSWEB is a serious direct alternative, particularly where existing PDF modules matter. KonVis can fit a focused ZUGFeRD project. xHub makes sense when a hosted API and custom integration are intentional architectural choices.
Run a proof of concept with real but sanitized invoice cases. Include a normal invoice, mixed VAT, a discount, shipping, a refund, a missing buyer reference, and one intentionally invalid document.
