Field sales rarely ends with a calendar event. A representative visits or calls a customer, records the outcome, prepares a quote, follows up, and eventually receives an order. These steps become more useful when they share the same Magento customer and sales owner.
SoftwareSilo supports this process through three separate Sales Staff add-ons. They are not included in the base license.
Customer Visits
The Visits add-on schedules onsite, remote, phone, or other appointments. A visit can have status, address, start and end time, outcome, next-visit date, and a related order. Customers can receive an invitation and, when enabled, confirm or cancel through expiring links.
ICS links and reminders support ordinary calendar use. Optional synchronization connects visits with Google or Microsoft calendars after the required OAuth configuration. Route and nearby-visit views help staff plan a day, but the merchant should test address quality and travel assumptions rather than treating them as automatic route optimization.
Customer History
The History add-on records interactions by customer and representative. Entries contain a topic, title, description, date, optional customer email, and attachments. This creates a shared account record for handovers and follow-up.
Agree on a small list of useful topics. If staff must type a long report for every call, the history will become incomplete. Record decisions, promises, objections, and next actions instead of copying ordinary email threads without purpose.
Quote Management
The Quote add-on gives staff and customers a dedicated quotation workflow. It supports quote items, prices, totals, shipping, statuses, history, attachments, PDF documents, sending, customer feedback, acceptance or rejection, duplication, expiry, and conversion to an order.
This differs from the separate SoftwareSilo B2B Quote product. Sales Staff Quote is built around the representative workspace. Confirm which quotation model matches the required users, permissions, and existing installation before purchasing.
One connected workflow
- The representative schedules a visit for an assigned customer.
- The customer confirms and receives calendar information.
- The representative records outcome and next action.
- A quote is prepared with agreed products and terms.
- The customer reviews, comments, accepts, or rejects.
- The accepted quote becomes an attributed Magento order.
- Reports and history retain the account context.
Implementation questions
Decide which system owns appointments, customer notes, quotes, and final orders. Define retention for attachments and contact notes. Check calendar permissions, expired action links, time zones, duplicate events, quote numbering, tax, PDF output, and ERP handoff.
Start with one representative and a small customer portfolio. A week of real appointments exposes missing statuses and unnecessary form fields much faster than a workshop built around idealized journeys.
